SUMMARY PUBLICATION OF ORDINANCE No. 208, AN ORDINANCE AMENDING

ORDINANCE NO. 122, THE SCANDIA DEVELOPMENT CODE, CHAPTER 2, SECTION 3.5(2) REGULATING FENCES IN THE SHORELAND OVERLAY DISTRICT OR THE ST. CROIX RIVER OVERLAY DISTRICT

On February 19, 2019, at a Regular Meeting of the Scandia City Council, by majority vote, the City Council adopted Ordinance No. 208 which amends the regulations for fences in the Shoreland Overlay District and St. Croix River Overlay Districts.  The ordinance restricts the height of fences to 4 feet where the building setbacks are not met and prohibits the construction of fences closer to the lake or river within lesser of the lake or river setback or the lake or river side of the house.

A printed copy of the Ordinance is available for inspection by any person during regular office hours at City Hall or by standard or electronic mail.

SUMMARY PUBLICATION OF ORDINANCE No. 209, AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE 202 GOVERNING THE “201” COMMUNITY SEWAGE TREATMENT SYSTEM

On February 19, 2019, at a Regular Meeting of the Scandia City Council, by majority vote, the City Council adopted Ordinance No. 209 which amends Ordinance No. 202 governing the “201” Community Sewage Treatment System.  The Ordinance amends the definition of a User and adds a subsection to provide for the inspection of portions of the system accessible from the interior of any structure and the process for notification and repair of improper conditions or unauthorized connections.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN to the qualified voters of the Town of May, County of Washington, State of Minnesota, that the Annual Election; Annual Town Meeting; and Board of Canvass will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at the May Town Hall located at 13939 Norell Avenue North. In case of inclement weather, the Election, Annual Town Meeting, and Board of Canvass may be postponed until March 19, 2019.

NOTICE IF HEREBY GIVEN, that the Election will be held from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Any voter who has not registered may do so at the election before voting.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that the one three (3) year term of Office of Town Supervisor is to be filled at the March Annual Election; and that the question to be answered is whether the town should combine the positions of clerk and treasurer.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that the Town Annual Meeting will be held at approximately 8:15 p.m. to do any and all business proper to be done at said meeting when convened. During the annual meeting, time will be allowed for public comment on all permitted uses in the Township, including Conditional Use Permits, Mining Permits and any other permitted uses. The Board of Canvass will meet immediately following the Annual Meeting to certify the official election results.
