As Veterans Day nears, I want to take this opportunity to thank all of our active and retired military personnel for their service to our country. At a time when many of our young men and women are protecting our interests overseas, we sometimes lose sight of the duty and sacrifices of the many individuals who make up our military.
The recent news regarding the Special Ops raid that killed ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi serves as a good reminder that brave men and women continue to fight for our freedoms each and every day.
We all know families in our communities whose brothers or sisters, dads, moms and children are in the military. We pray for their safety. But we should also thank them for their sacrifice in helping making America more secure.
Hundreds of veterans call our area home. If you have some free time on November 11, I’d encourage you to let these brave men and women know that their service was greatly appreciated. Without the commitment of our troops and their families, we would not enjoy the daily freedoms we so often take for granted.
To all of our veterans: Thank you for a job well done.
