In any other year, schools and area churches would have their schedules filled with Christmas or Holiday concerts during this time.

Of course, 2020, has been unlike any other year, forcing those who plan these concerts to do some serious adjusting to even get a concert off the ground.

Erika Hammerschmidt, music teacher at River Grove Elementary, explained her plans.

“We are not planning on any Holiday/Christmas concerts,” she said. “I did try to do an outdoor “mini-recital” at the Zephyr Theater in their parking lot in October for the River Grove students, but that was the day it snowed and rained and the temperatures were in the 30s, so we had to scrap that idea.

“We are waiting until spring, when we can either do an indoor or outdoor option and the weather is good/reliable and we have options for rain dates.”

As for area churches, Elim Lutheran Church in Scandia reported they would be holding a Christmas Eve service, starting at 3 p.m. Guests can follow on its website.

Christ Lutheran Church in Marine on St. Croix stated its children’s Christmas Pageant will be virtual and it will debut Dec. 20.
