A few Marine on St. Croix residents are doing their part to say thanks to hospital workers this holiday season.

Jen Cress and Ginny Averill launched Marine Cares earlier this month to appreciate the workers at Lakeview Hospital in Stillwater.

“We felt there was an obvious need,” Cress said. “The staff was working so hard.”

The pair came up with three ways for people to donate

• Homemade gifts: writing cards, drawings, and knitting. Those items can be dropped off at various Marine locations – The Church, The General, Marine Café, J’Rods Automotive along with Alfresco’s in Stillwater. Cress said last week, staff has been loving the handmade items.

• Gift Cards: Take-out meals and groceries from local Stillwater stores. They can be mailed to Ginny Averill, P.O. Box 171, Marine, Minn., 55047.

• Cash Donations: Direct deposit into the ‘Marine Cares’ account at the Marine Bank.

Donations will be accepted through Dec. 18. For additional questions, one can email marine.mncares@gmail.com
