The candidacy filing period for seats on two local city councils will begin on Aug. 3.

In Marine on St. Croix, seats currently held by Mayor Glen Mills and council members Mike Lammi and Everett Myers are up for re-election.

In Scandia Mayor Dennis Seefeldt and council members Dolores Peterson and Pete Crum face re-election. Crum, a St. Paul police officer, and Peterson, a former Scandia township clerk, were elected to Scandia’s first-ever city council in 2006.

Council members in both cities serve a four-year term, while mayors serve on a two-year cycle.

The filing period closes Aug. 17. Those persons who file for candidacy have until Aug. 19 to remove their names.
